Are Your Goals SMART Enough?

When you set SMART goals with prayer and purpose, you transform inspiration into action. God is ready to meet you—step forward in faith and clarity.

Your dreams may lead you down a path, but your actions define the destination.

You’ve probably experienced it: setting grand goals and feeling inspired but somehow losing momentum along the way.

If you’ve struggled to make goals and stick to them, you’re not alone.

Allow me to introduce the SMART method.

Be Specific.

Measure progress.

Aim high.

Reflect frequently.

Be Timely.

1. Be SPECIFIC with your goals.

God designed you uniquely and purposefully. So, why settle for vague aspirations?

Instead of just wanting to "get healthier," ask God clearly for guidance and commit specifically: "I will honor my body as God’s temple by losing 15 pounds by July."

Specific goals lead us to pray specific prayers. This leads us into a greater attunement to how God is moving and guiding you step by step toward your potential.

2. MEASURE progress, but grace.

There have been plenty of times in my life where I’ve prayed for something, then totally missed it when God answered my prayer.

Why? I wasn’t paying attention.

When we set goals, we have to be alert and measure milestones. This isn’t to see how we aren’t measuring up but rather to make sure we’re celebrating progress along the way.

Keep track of your progress regularly, celebrate small victories, and stay grateful—knowing each step brings you closer to the life you’re called to live.

AIM high, but stay grounded.

Big dreams require bold faith.

Yet, true wisdom involves setting goals that stretch your limits without overwhelming your spirit.

Pray for discernment to know where to push forward and when to lean into grace.

Aim to grow, improve, and become more disciplined, knowing that even challenging goals are attainable through God.

REFLECT on whether you’re setting the right goals.

Just because it’s a good thing doesn’t make it a God thing.

Read that again.

Not every good goal is the right goal, even if it is pretty cool.

We have to choose goals that align closely with God’s word, but also the opportunities and talents given to us.

If you’re 5’6, chances are an NBA career isn’t for you. It’s not that being in the NBA is a bad thing; it’s just the wrong thing for you.

Whether it’s career, relationships, or personal growth, ensure your ambitions reflect your core beliefs, talents, and God's calling in your life.

Authentic alignment creates unstoppable motivation and genuine fulfillment.

TAKE timely action rooted in faith.

Setting deadlines isn't about pressure; it’s about purposefully moving forward.

Faith without action is incomplete.

Give your goals timelines, trusting God to meet you in each step.

Deadlines encourage decisive, intentional living. Set them prayerfully, trust boldly.

Today is your moment.

Step forward with confidence in God’s plan.

Today, trust that the goals planted within you are ready to bloom through prayerful steps and committed effort.

God is ready to partner with you in bringing your goals to life.

Take the step.

Keep the faith.

And watch extraordinary blessings unfold.
